KYWS-850／"Komachi Odori" dance originated in the early Edo period from local girls around Nijo Castle dancing and playing the drums beautifully down the streets. Maiko from Gion-higashi district dance and play the "Uchiwa Daiko" (a type of frame drum). Their hair is woven in a Genroku period hairstyle and the kimono are worn in the "Kata-nugi" style (wearing only one sleeve of the kimono.)
*Hanagasa Junko on 24th July is a procession of floats during the Gion Festival. After the procession dedication of dances by Geiko and Maiko of the four Hanamachi districts take place in Yasaka Shrine. "Kabuki Odori" by Ponto-cho Geiko, "Komachi Odori" by Gion-higashi Maiko, "Suzume Odori" by Gion-koubu Maiko and "Konchiki Ondo" by Miyagawa-cho Maiko.
