Doki "potteries" with a decoration of a face means that the pottery itself represents a body of a woman. Specialisst assume that these kind of Doki were used for rituals to pray for prosperity of descendants and for rituals when giving birth to a child. Many potteries (Doki) were made in Joumon Era (around 10000〜 400 BC) patterened with ropes and decorated with sea shells. Various sized and shaped potteries were found, purposed for cooking, for storage, for serving and such. Some were specially made for rituals and ceremonies.■Product
