Tangled weaved banshu-ori stole is tie-dyed by a shibori craftsman in Kyoto. A butterfly is undyed as the stole get dyed into a fresh spring green. We then embroidered patterns to the fleeting butterfly.
Banshu-Ori is manufactured for over 200 years in Japan. Dyeing the yarn before weaving is what gives this fine cotton fabric a smooth airy texture. Nowadays there are many weaving tecnicts to create beautiful patterns of high quality cotton.Banshu is an area in Nishiwaki city, Hyogo prefecture. "Ori" means weaving.
