[National Treasure] Excavated from Sasayama Site, Tokamachi City. Flame-type pottery No. 1, commonly known as "Jomon Yukihomura". Height 46.5 cm, diameter 43.8 cm. Collection of Tokamachi City Museum.

Decorative earthenware made in various parts of Japan during the Jomon period. It is called a flame-type pottery because the designs resemble burning flames. A deep bowl shape, with a varity of spiral patterns on the body, and large handles.
