Inspired by the Shikoku dog, the Tosa Inu was developed in modern Japan for fighting. Muscular with a strong jaw, droopy ears, and a relaxed tail, this breed features loose skin for added protection. Known for its strong fighting instinct, power, and endurance, Tosa fighting began in the Kamakura period and flourished during the late Edo period in the Tosa domain.
