Excavated from Kamikurokoma, Misaka-cho, Fuefuki City, Yamanashi Prefecture. A tattoo-like pattern is applied to parts of the body, the face resembles a wildcat. The left hand that grabs its chest is represented by three fingers. Height 25.4 cm. Collection of the Tokyo National Museum.

Jomon era clay figures gently carved with exaggerated breasts and buttocks to represent females. Many theories on its usage, religious, spiritual purpose or even toys for children.
Made over 10,000 years in Jomon period (14000-400 BC). In this series we celebrate the Jomon era and the starting point of Japanese art.
