Ashura originally refers to a god in Hinduism, known as a being full of vigor who loves conflict and embodies hatred and anger. Later, after receiving the teachings of Shakyamuni, Ashura became one of the eight guardian deities that protect Buddhism. Ashura is depicted with red skin and has three faces and six arms, appearing in an armed form.

Collaborating Artist
Yozan Miura
A Buddhist sclptor born in 1973 in Saitama Prefecture. After working in a company for three years post-graduation, he was inspired by the book 'Kibutsuki' by Jun Miura and Seikō Ito to become a sculptor. He apprenticed under a master in Shiga Prefecture for 13 years before establishing the Tonomikado Buddhist Workshop in Kamigyo Ward, Kyoto City. There, he carves new wooden statues, restores old ones, and conducts sculpture workshops. In 2018, he proposed the 'Drone Buddha,' merging traditional techniques with modern technology, aiming for a contemporary portrayal of Amida and the Twenty-five floating Bosatsu, bringing Buddhist teachings to modern life.
