This piece features a Komainu carrying a drum, embroidered directly on Mino Washi paper, which is crafted in Gifu Prefecture. The tightly intertwined fibers of this washi enable detailed embroidery work. The paper is custom-made with a thickness to ensure it is not transparent. The Komainu is regarded as a symbol for prayers of safe childbirth.
