Exiled from his land of gods and goddesses, Susano was travelling Izumo when he encounter a beautiful maiden, and her elderly parents crying in sorrow. The maiden was to be scarified for Yamata no Orochi, a snake with eight fire blowing heads and eight tails. Susano promises them to defeat the monster in return of being wedded with the maiden. Susano prepares eight jugs of sake and makes each snake head drunk. He then chops each head of the monster and gains victory.
