Grow in broad leaf and pine trees from summer to fall. Cracked caps. Perishable. Edible when young.
"Old Man of the Woods (Strobilomyces confusus)" in the Boletaceae family. Mushroom series is inspired by an old "Illustrated Guide to Herbal Medicine" by Kanen Iwasaki in the Edo Period (1603-1867). Easily ironed patch.
