Mikoshi are portable shinto shrines carried by dozens of people during Gion festival. Groups of adults and children's are dressed up as warriors, egrets and more. They makes way for the main mikoshi on its way to Yasaka shrine. A group of 3 to 4 years old children are dressed up in matching yukata and red shaggy wigs. This outfit is called "Shaguma" (Red Bear) such wigs where worn by officers during the "Sengoku" war era, where different colors of wigs differentiated the armies and regions.
