[National Treasure] Excavated from Kazahari site #1 in Hachinohe City, Aomori Prefecture. She sits in the fetus pose, putting her hands together like in prayer. Height 19.8 cm, width 14.2 cm. Collection of Korekawa Archaeological Institution (Korekawa Jomon Kan).

Jomon era clay figures gently carved with exaggerated breasts and buttocks to represent females. Many theories on its usage, religious, spiritual purpose or even toys for children.
Made over 10,000 years in Jomon period (14000-400 BC). In this series we celebrate the Jomon era and the starting point of Japanese art.
